The mods of all the major communities there remove comments criticism Hexbear
and usually follow it up with a ban. It’s absolutely clear what is happening and
it shouldn’t be allowed to continue.
its hard to imagine the top minds at beehaw and lemmy.world pulling together enough resources and organization to reimplement lemmy from scratch, but I do think it's a non-zero chance they get it to work. All because they couldn't hang it in rust and can't stand dealing with commies
To be real though, if they somehow succeed it'll just be good riddance, the annoying smuglords will fuck off to wherever and the intellectually honest liberals who are interested in having actual debates and ask questions instead of being a know it all smuglord (aka. the fraction of liberals who are actually worth interacting with) will still be there and above all will be able to talk with us without the discourse being polluted.
In fact now that I think about it, we should really find a way to encourage good faith liberals to talk with us and discourage smuglord behavior, I actually enjoy debating with liberals when they are arguing in good faith.

Yes, please talk more about this. People get too aggressive with libs who are good faith but just also philistine.
One thing to do is post a thread where you invite liberals to talk with you and set as a rule that everyone eschews unnecessary rudeness. It's gone well in the past, at least the couple of times that I've seen it done.
I still don't understand the point beehaw is trying to make with their instance or why they think federated systems work when they need to control all parts

I was literally just going to comment this. They are trying to build their own lemmy, with blackjack, and java (and no tankies, I assume)
lol good luck with that

Imagining a software project where everyone believes they are the manager and no one is doing any work. This will surely show those Hexbears

That's a very good idea, we should do that, maybe make it a periodic thing, a weekly megathread specifically to speak with liberals.
