When I heard they were making a DnD movie my expectations were exceedingly low. This honestly looks pretty fun. I'll take this over capeshit any day.
Looks to me like they're trying to channel Guardians of the Galaxy, aka the best capeshit.
It's going to be better at being a D&D movie than the last D&D movie.
This looks cool, and probably fun. My worry is that, based on the trailer, if it's all epic greenscreen battles and quips, there probably won't be much in the way of story or character. Maybe the thought is that if the battles looks cool enough and the quips are witty enough than it won't matter, people will enjoy it anyway. And maybe that's true, but I think all the best adventure movies are backed by solid writing (and casting).
Personally, I know that flashy visual and witty quips will keep me entertained for about fifteen minutes, after that you need something meatier. Regardless, this will almost certainly be better than the Warcraft movie, so there's that.

Premise of this is way closer to my actual D&D experience than any D&D movie up to now. Plus owlbear :hexbear-posadist: and displacer beast :party-cat:
All the soy Marvel dialogue is also unfortunately accurate :deeper-sadness:
2000 D&D film with Jeremy Irons is one of the worst fantasy movies ever made.
This is only going to work if the visual department puts the whole production on its back. Because clearly the writing and acting was skimped on.
