1. Trump will have a primary with fewer competitors than 2016 (not hard). DeSantis is the clear runner up.
  2. The liberal media and fox news will swoon over DeSantis. Everything Trump says will be rejectedout of hand by the media but DeSantis could say and mean the exact same thing Trump says and will be praised. Because only the character of Trump is what they reject, not his politics. Therefore, through DeSantis, Trump's politics will become normalized.
  3. Trump still beats DeSantis and the media will try to denormalized Trump's politics again as though nothing happened.

every time they beg her to run she says she's not gonna run. i think she likes attention so she keeps doin interviews giving advice to the dems, but losing in 2016 crushed her spiritually and delusional as she is she doesn't think she could do it again.

            in so many words

Does she think Trump will run in 2024? “I think if he can he’s going to run again,” Clinton replies. “Follow the money with Trump — he’s raised about $130mn sitting in his bank account that he used to travel around, to fund organising against elections . . . I don’t know who will challenge him in the Republican primary.” Could you imagine running again, I ask. “No, out of the question,” Clinton replies. “First of all, I expect Biden to run. He certainly intends to run. It would be very disruptive to challenge that.” The fact that Biden will be 81 at the next election is nevertheless a source of rising angst among some Democrats — and speculation about whether he might step down. Clinton does not get around to her second point about why she will not seek high office again. The first seems final enough.

This is somehow a more obvious outcome than Trump winning at all.

Or become Trump's running mate. It's not as if we're going to see a Trump / Pence ticket again.

While I'm at the lathe. The next president, whoever that is, will have a stroke in office but will survive. The media will pretend the President is so strong and brave to keep serving while its not entirely clear that they are able to. Some will spuspec that the President is half brain dead but we'll never get enough raw footage to tell.

My knowledge gets hazy after 1953, but I strongly feel like this already happened in late-stage USSR. It feels both weird and perfectly predictable that we're collapsing in similar ways to them. Or is this just how all empires crumble from within? Everyone doing an " everything is going great" face while we all know it's rotting from the inside out?

Trump runs 2024 with Donald Jr as his running mate, understanding his first born is both sycophantically loyal and couldn't be less of a threat.

    They win.

    Trump survives his second term.

Russia-Gate happens all over again, recycled like it ever accomplished anything the first time around. Impeachments happen to no effect.

Donald Jr tries to run in 2028 and loses the GOP primary to DeSantis, who has slightly more of a spine relative only to Jr.

DeSantis loses to Mitt Romney running as a Democrat, with Liz Cheney as his running mate.

Don't need a lathe for this, polling indicates that this is the likely outcome. Trump has such a fervent backing from his base that it's going to be incredibly hard for anyone else to primary him, despite the fact that mainline conservative media will try to elevate Desantis.

This prediction feels too prescient to be considered a lathe imo. It's like watching a bowling ball fall off the roof and predicting it will fall down.

Biden will propose something like $8 of student loan forgiveness tiny fast text (for qualifying indiviudals in the proper sectors making below $1.86/hr, subject to change, terms and conditions apply see biden.change.hope.gov for full details) to try and woo the younger demographic that thinks hes a joke, and when that pittance isnt enough to bribe them they will be like "come on jack! we tried everything boy these kids want it all dont they?" and then poor people will be blamed for handing the election to trump by every upper middle class :warren-snake-green: with 2 homes who just subsidized the shit out of their lives with PPP money

That's a pretty interesting idea for a genuinely cursed turn of events. Trump winning is the popular prediction here and I agree with it, but that normalization problem is something I didn't realize. Honestly Desantis would probably advocate for some policies that make Trump look like a moderate, because Desantis is purposeful and so that means he will probably drive hard at certain angles whereas Trump just sort of blindly turns the dial back and forth arbitrarily based on reactions he gets.

My gut tells me Warren is too progressive to be allowed to engage. Basically, she might over promise and have to deliver something like lowering the age of social security or universal pre K or some other bare minimum initiative.

:pete: <--- might be allowed to pretend he had no choice but to primary Brandon for the good of the country, then get elected and effectively deliver less.

I disagree, the response of the media and the establishment in 2020 clearly showed that they know she will try to vaguely signal at being a progressive. But she is not seen as a threat to the establishment like Bernie. She was just uncharismatic and unpopular. Especially since everyone that took her progressivism seriously therefore saw her as Bernie-Lite (TM)

My money's on the Rat. Him showing up for epic clap backs against Republicans on the news and getting Transportation Secretary with Biden only passing a bill to boost investment in transportation seems a bit too clean

She was extremely conservative until she got into politics. I assume she just realized her chances of winning were better as a Dem.

Has DeSantis hinted he's running? I doubt a careerist ghoul like him would go against Trump when the dude can just be feeling a little catty one night and make his name mud

Safer to wait for a VP nod or for Trump to run out of term limits/die

It's over for Trump. He already betrayed his capitol protestors, acquiesced the election, and more importantly there's now a picture of him that actually looks like a sloppy pile of fermenting mayo. Like he actually looks like a non-human entity lul

Since chud positions are about 100% optics and literally nothing fucking else, this signifies that Trump is done. Desantis is the new blood, and he's also 40 instead of 89 or w/e

cope. Trump only wins when the alternative is less chud

Desantis is basically Trump but worse in every way, so natural law tells us he should win

My lathe is that Bernie wins again, he wins the the primary and beats Trump by a landslide. But then, the hogs do 1/6 all over again, but this time, the Democrats just let the hogs steal the presidency without even putting up a fight.

I’ve said this before, but Desantis is LOW ENERGY and I can’t see people moving from Trump to Desantis in significant numbers.
