I think you answered your own question, though I would add the caveat: The problem being solvable or not isn't the issue, it's whether it seems solvable. Therefore it's in their interest to make problems look unsolvable through various means, and conversely when they refuse to solve something that is obviously solvable, they must give the appearance of making progress on solving it.

Idk the detaios, but I believe it's because the public health emergency designation makes it easier for federal agencies to kick up production and distribution of smallpox vaccines.

you need to think like a lib: talking about something is the same as doing something. they have declared it an emergency. mission accomplished!

As that one iconic proverb goes:

"The best time to stop a pandemic was 2 months ago. The second best time is now. The first best time is never and learning to live with the virus, Jack." -President Biden

We're going to fight it by declaring a monkeypox party and infecting everyone at once.

Now we get to see how a liberal president handles a pandemic!

I was told that covid wouldn't have been a problem if Hillary was president in 2020 :hillary:

We’re going to suggest lockdowns, then when boomers threaten to shoot the state capitol up we’ll just apologize and suggest everyone “be cautious” and that’s all.

"We're prepared to take our response to the next level in addressing this virus," Becerra said Thursday. "We urge every American to take monkeypox seriously and to take responsibility to help us tackle this virus."

Why would every American need to take it seriously if it only affects "the gays"? Unless...the gays turned all of us gay without us even realizing it? :frothingfash:

Also probably have to sanitize groceries and shit you bring in again. You may be eligible for a vaccine, depends where you are. I've seen a few places giving out vaccines if you're AMAB or a transman and have had or are planning on having sex with men.

Beyond sanitizing food and items that enter your home - which I imagine most people will not bother with - you should avoid putting your bare skin in contact with surfaces that may have monkeypox on it. Monkeypox lives for months to years depending on conditions and might be able to enter through your skin directly without any abrasions needed. Big things to look out for are public transport, hotels, gyms.
