hi everyone, i finally got back into my account here. i've been out as a trans woman for several years, but only just started estrogen several months ago and have been wanting to actually start expressing femininely instead of just wearing men's clothes which is giving me a whole lot of dysphoria now. i'm wondering where other transfems get their clothes? i have no idea where to look.

Search to see if there's a trans & gender diverse clothes swap group or event that is in your region - there's quite a few out there.
Idk how it works exactly but I imagine with some clothes swap groups you would find people who are about the same size as you are and who are looking to get rid of their feminine clothes in favour of masculine clothes and you'd agree to exchange items. I'm sure there's probably quite a few donations as well.
Check out places that sell secondhand and vintage stuff. There are a bunch of places like that near me that my mom and sister loved shopping at.
thanks, i'll try looking at more places for that. i took a peek at a local goodwill but only found a bunch of really awful looking and low quality fast fashion stuff. but it's not the only second-hand store out there.
Yeah goodwill sucks ass. I mean like if you have local places, I would list a few for comparison but that would literally doxx me lol.
I guess I am privileged in that sense because we have like 5 really awesome secondhand stores in a couple blocks from each other here. One of which specializes in like 70s disco fashion and it rules.
that does sound really awesome. i do know some local places with vintage clothes, they just hike the prices up a little because its trendy or whatever.

Good will is like any other thrift shop really, I have found some good stuff there but yeah the best thriftshop I have around is a queer thrift shop. Feel very comfortable there and have gotten so much good stuff
You haven't mentioned a budget, so I apologize if this is not accessible to you. Also, I've always been pretty thin and am blessed with a somewhat androgynous figure to begin with, but I'd rather share what's worked for me than outright assume it's not going to help anyone.
Totally depends on your personal tastes and comfort levels. I got some cute crop tops on sale for under $10 from Uniqlo a little while ago that I love, but it's definitely also a little scary to start wearing crop tops in public. I also got some (unisex) parachute cargo pants from there that are pretty trendy and absolutely great for transfems because it makes you look like you have hips. I've gotten a lot of compliments.
As a fairly tall girl (6'2), I've had some luck finding jeans that fit me nicely from Madewell, they have good size options but they are a bit pricier, but a decent option to try if you can afford it.
As for underwear, I've tried a few different brands but the only thing that I've found to be fairly comfy and *ahem* accommodating to my anatomy has been aerie boybriefs, specifically the cotton with elastic bands. Sometimes they sell 10 for $35 or something like that.

You could also try Temu, pretty cheap stuff, although look carefully at reviews and make sure they have photos.
Lots of people suggesting thrifting. One suggestion I have there is to go with someone who is "good" at it for lack of a better term. I have a friend who is a thrift queen and she routinely finds things that are great whereas I can almost never find the good stuff!
Thrifting is how I get most of my interesting pieces of clothing. I also use target for a few things like jeans and H&M where I have quite a few things that fit me pretty well. How tall are you? I think that will actually make a difference. Shoe size also really changes where you can shop.
Finally the big thing is figuring out what works on your body. What looks good and what makes you feel good. Don't discount jewelry because some good accessories will take a normal outfit and make it really cute. I always like big pendant necklaces and adorning myself with rocks and stuff
i'm pretty short (5'4), so finding pants/jeans is always a pain in the ass. but i've had success with old navy and their sizing which has short leg sizes that i dont need to cut or cuff. but thanks for the jewelry recommendation! i'll be looking.
