To be less polite, the BA.5 scaremongering was bullshit and you should place less trust in the people who engaged in it going forward.

As the replies state, still killing more people than motor vehicles, guns and opioids combined - 700 deaths yesterday. Not to mention long covid (currently 8% of the US population), knock on effects to healthcare, continued pressure on collapsing public education…what a fucking master of understanding systems the numbers wizard is.

    Nitter never works for me like 90% of the time it takes ages to load whereas basic Twitter takes seconds. I still love the concept because Twitter makes you have an account and log in to look at a tweet which is equally annoying. But I've just got a Twitter account that I never tweet from to look at stuff. Nitter 9/10 times just don't load for me. I'm also in the third world so that may have something to do with it, not sure where the nitter servers are.

      I think there are different nitter instances, but I mostly use it because for some reason links in tweets never work for me on the normal twitter site.

      I'm in the US and the only thing that's any good at all is nitter.snopyta.org.

      I think the programmer is a bit of an asshole. I've shared nitter.net links all over the place and it annoys me to no end that they'll probably be broken at least 75% of the time. If you go to the Github page with instances - nitter.snopyta.org isn't even listed. If snopyta.org starts to give me grief - I'm never using anything by that programmer ever again.

        nitter.net links are usually just broken because it's the most popular instance and it gets rate limited sooner. not sure why you think the programmer is an asshole but im curious

          nitter.snopyta.org has no documentation and general users don't know about it.

          If I had known nitter.net was such garbage - I would have never shared links. Other instances are even worse.

                right but like, its not like the nitter.net maintainers are intentionally breaking the links to fuck with you, its not really in their control

      ublock origin can block the nag popup and I can see everything but the porn. and there's probably a way to see the porn, i just don't care enough
