I follow Naomi, I have for years, and she fessed up to messing up the email chain. However, Linus does not show the chat logs about the hotel visit. He also did not apologize.

But that's not the only problem with Linus. There are other issues listed in this comment section but also he's also super mean to his wife in this video and that left a bad taste in my mouth. He also screws with a PC he made for Hasan Piker because he doesn't like Hasan's politics in this video (Obviously this one is largely for entertainment value, but it came off very mean spirited to me).

And then there is the drama around one of his employees, madison, leaving under suspicious circumstances because she had to sign an NDA. The issue largely believed to be due to sexual harassment.

Dude sucks for a multitude of reasons and I stand by what I said.

I watched the video, and I only saw emails.

I personally was just talking about this situation.

And my POS comment was about my personal experience. As a masc person in tech myself I have seen men behave like this over and over and I have no interest in giving him the benefit of the doubt, especially when there are clearly other issues surrounding him.

Did Naomi Wu mess up? Seems that way and she admitted to it. That doesn't give Linus a pass to shit on her on twitter, talk about it in a podcast where he doesn't apologize for the way he behaved on twitter, and let his fans attack Naomi until she sets her twitter to private? Do you think if Naomi was a man it would have gone down this way? As the one with structural, financial, and popular power in the scenario, Linus had a responsibility to diffuse this situation in a way that minimized damage and he obviously didn't do that.

We aren’t supposed to be mob justice.

I am not calling for any action, just calling it like I see it.

He said it was bad. He did not apologize. He said not to attack Naomi AFTER someone on floatplane chat reminded LUKE to say it. That is not diffusing the situation at all. If he wanted to diffuse the situation, he should have dm'd Naomi and talked about it rationally, but he didn't. This absolutely stirred shit and he he knows it.

They say this basically every week. He has said many times that fans harassing a person on the behalf of someone else is unacceptable and makes the situation worse for everyone.

I am reasonably sure that a listener who is harassing Naomi knows Linus' position but does not care.

but it’s kind of hard to do that when some misinformation is spread publicly

Then ask for it to be taken back. Again, he had all of the power and should have settled it maturely, or just denied it and moved on if Naomi was really so unreasonable (I know she can get wound up sometimes, but it was an event from 4 years ago, I don't blame her for not remembering correctly).

Linus absolutely wouldn't have said it if Luke hadn't brought it up. It's not like this is the first scandal on the internet, everyone knows that you start by telling people not to harass others, look at Cr1TiKaL's videos for an example.

Linus isn't some smol bean youtuber, he is the biggest tech channel on the website, and his handling of this, along with his warranty scandal and what all else. He has the power, so he has the responsibility. I am going to hold him to a much higher standard than a small youtuber in a country that banned youtube.

A kind of similar issue happened a while ago when they moved into a new building and were complaining about some things done by the previous tenant. Despite blurring info in that video some people tried to find and harass the employees of the previous tenant. He's said that people should absolutely stay out of it and never harass anyone on their behalf. Practically speaking that is not going to stop everyone

Which is why these things should be handled publicly only as a last resort and saying not to harass someone as an afterthought comes off as almost intentionally malicious.

I agree that handling things privately would be the best option. I don't think saying you shouldn't harass people 10 minutes earlier, when basically everyone listening has heard that message before on previous episodes, would make a different in the harassment. Only keeping it private would ensure there is no harassment

It wouldn't have stopped all harassment, but I don't think it would have done nothing. Even if it kept only a single person from attacking Wu on twitter, it should have been done.
