I hold this opinion about The Social Network, and, more controversially, Uncut Gems.
oh it is. The soundtrack is this movies soul. Technically it's science fiction. Could you imagine Hanz Zimmer?
oh yeah, you're right. I used to really dislike Phillip Glass's music. I thought it was lazy and too simple, or just repetition for its own sake. Then I saw it in movies and I think it all clicked for me. He also scored Taking Lives and Secret Window, which are both incredibly mediocre but the soundtracks are amazing and probably the only good part.
laughing rn remebering I used to pick phillip glass for tripping on robutissin just reeling in the dark deeedlediidlediidledeeedlediidlediidle
Tron (2010)
It Follows is a great movie but the soundtrack is even better
The Star Wars prequels
The Jar. The movie is terrible but the music is decent
Top Gun
Twilight. Decode, I Caught Myself, Leave Out All The Rest, and Flightless Bird American Mouth? Absurd
Good rule of thumb: if Trent Reznor does the soundtrack then it's almost always going to upstage the movie
Life aquatic with Steve zissou
I like the move well enough, but I've watched it as background noise a whole lot just because the sound track and the way it mixes is phenomenal
Tron Legacy is the definition of a mediocre movie with an outstanding soundtrack.
Heavy Metal 1981. Legit one of if not my favorite album of all time, but the movie is skippable.
its cool if you like love death robots or that french guy's art style, but it's 80s sexist
I mean I'm not of the opinion that a woman in S&M gear riding a pterodactyl through space and fighting an evil wizard with a buzz saw hand is necessarily sexist, but its been a while since I've seen it so maybe there's stuff I forgot.
one of the other stories is some cringe nerd power fantasy stuff. I can still enjoy it as a whole but i wouldn't blame anyone for being put off.
