It was the last time that we had cool weapons that mostly worked. Now days you've got shit like the F-35 and the LCS that cost ten bajillion and look cool in photos but don't do shit. Give me a fucking F-14 and Phoenix missiles and let me shoot down a Bear bomber for God's sake

F-14 is the only based American jet because they sold like a hundred of those to Iran a few years before the Islamic revolution overthrew the Shah so they fell in the hands of the Iranian air force.

The iranians can have the f-14 it is fine just as long Americans don’t get the pleasure of having a plane that does not just catches on fire if they try to use it ever again

Devs officially say it's about anti fascism. It would be hilarious if it is more anti Batista by accident. I'm sure they mean well, but they probably don't realize this will just be imperialist propaganda and Chuds will embrace it kinda (Ubisoft has fallen off of gamers so I can see this just being a blip in our memory).

On a side note, a game about the Cuban revolution would be lit.

I'm sure the bad guy will be a latin american dictator but the game devs' political ideology is somehow so incoherent they'll make him an ambiguous villain rather than an obvious CIA puppet

Yeah it will be that. Chuds will get their Communism shit, libs will get their resist shit, and we will get our share of bs.

Only way it is anti-fascism is if they talk about how a Juan Guaido type got into power, enacted neoliberal reform and killed every communist hero and now you are getting the band back together.

I was watching Cuba and the Cameraman, and the way people chose to leave rather than overthrow Fidel, kinda says it all.

With this game and the new call of duty I wonder how much money the DOD put propaganda into games this year.

like i would not be surprised if they didn't do all that much but gave them people with EXPERTISE to make a realistic game and they were all just ex war criminals

like it is ubisoft so i would imagine it was made to be kinda of reminescent of french revolts and bad timing fucked it up for them like they did not start making this game this year the fact that they don't care about how shitty it looks right now is on them though

oh it is the boys in montreal, isn't it? like the main point still stands making a triple a game takes like at least a year and that would be real fast so this was probably a timing thing not related to the unrest now, but with this being from the boys in canada they probably used the baltimore riots as a source for this then which COOL like anyway fuck ubisoft either way awful rapists company

Never forget that Ubisoft is a company that normalized abuse and sexual assault beyond what is already the industry standard of being fucking horrible. But you know, it ain't political so everything is fine.

Looks like a deliberate blend between Cuba and generic South-American comprador dictatorship, very distasteful

I don't get it. The signs by the protestors imply this is a fascist dictatorship and they make no reference to Cuba. What am I missing?

Isn't it dope to make a game where you're taking down a fascist dictatorship through popular struggle?

I mean the classic 60s cars in otherwise modern setting strongly imply it’s Cuba. And the developers straight up say in an interview that the setting was inspired by Cuba.

About the protestors, it could be that they are left-wing protestors fighting against Batista-like fascist dictator.

Or it could be that they are right-wing reactionaries fighting against left-wing leader like Maduro.

It’s hard to say but I think the latter is more likely because it aligns better with current mainstream narrative.
