i'm interested in how the mis-chee-vee-us pronunciation came about, considering the word isn't spelled mischievious. is it a regional thing that has spread over time or is it something else?
I did a super-quick google...

Mischievous vs. Mischievious: Usage Guide
A pronunciation \mis-ˈchē-vē-əs\ and a consequent spelling mischievious are of long standing: evidence for the spelling goes back to the 16th century. Our pronunciation files contain modern attestations ranging from dialect speakers to Herbert Hoover. But both the pronunciation and the spelling are still considered nonstandard.
probably similar to how restaurateur doesn't have an n in it, yet a lot of people still pronounce it (myself included)
This is the first time I realized that it doesn’t. What the fuck?
My phone doesn’t even bother to correct it. If I do “look up” it’ll show it spelled without the n, but it just totally accepts the n because that’s obviously how the word should actually be spelled
Interestingly it’s different, for the pokemon it’s always Miss-druh-vus but the normal word changes based on the setting
Depends on the register. If I’m speaking casually, “Mis-chih-vus”. If I’m reading a book out loud to a kid, “Mis-chee-vee-us”.
That's a good point. The 'eevious' phonetic sound is so vowelly that you can really put a villainous drawl on it. Really draw it out so you're slinking through the sentence.
I just realized I use both, and I don't really know when or why
I think it might be an adverb/adjective thing
Acting mischievious makes you a mischievous hexbear
can't believe how this is how i realized there was more than one pronunciation (and how I had used both many times without realizing)
Either, depending on how I'm feeling that word should be pronounced in the moment.
i need people to look at what vowels come after that V there
i will bury the dog's tongue english in a shallow grave so help me god
