Hey ya’ll, so, I’ve been thinking. I’m in my 5th semester as a Sociology major with a minor in Fat Studies and it’s really put Fatphobia at the forefront of my mind. As a Fat person, sometimes it almost feels like my Fatness is even more alienating than my transness. I don’t feel comfortable or safe at rallies and marches and riots because there just ain’t much care given to Fat comrades. I’ve heard folks say stuff like “put her in front to absorb the rubber bullets” and other fashy stuff like that which is NOT OK especially from fellow comrades. I’m currently writing about how Fatness is in itself a protest against capit*lism and I wish this message was more known amongst the left. Maybe based on this we could get some more accommodations like slower moving phalanxes at protests and commitments to non-Fatphobic language by organizers. Fatness is a vector capitalism uses for oppression and Fatness very often intersects with Blackness and transness.

Peace y’all, and remember, Fatties Fight Fascism!

It is a troll post. That’s not how sociology majors write about fatphobia. It’s a low quality caricature.

It’s just that we all agree with it. The “antifa phalanxes” move at the correct pace and are already accommodating all guerrillas, btw.

I say this sincerely: OP, I am by your own brutal bourgeois standards, in much better shape than your fascist ass.

Alright chud, sorry my writing ain’t up to your standards. I’ve had the experiences I write about. Can you say you’ve been on the streets with me?

I’m sure you’ve experienced a lot of self-hatred and just want to hate everyone you see now!

That’s of course the universal pattern in fascists - you’re just hateful bullies. It’s not even like a rational thing. Fascists are mad at their own dicks

Protests have had some growing pains re: ableism and gendered/harmful language (fat pigs, calling women cops bitches, etc). Getting people to talk about it and explaining how it hurts the movement seems to help.

With that said, cop bull rushes are scary and groups really have a hard time resisting them, putting fat comrades (well, all comrades) at risk

Sir, this is NOT a troll post. Fatphobia and Ableism are as important as Transphobia and Racism as vectors of oppression. Y’all need to read theory!

I’ve personally experienced being winded/left behind by really fast moving antifa blocs and felt scared being left behind for the fash without comrades to protect me but go off I guess... ___

For real, treating people like shit because of their appearance and/or health is inherently reactionary. It has no place in the movement. It's a shame to see this site dismissing this as a troll post.

I admit it feels off, but I am going to choose to approach it as if they're serious. Not worth alienating allies for fear of getting le epic owned by trollolols

If it feels off then look at it! Consider WHY it feels off! Every rightist you encounter is going to be fucking with you or dragging you down with bad-faith rhetoric. If you want to spend your very limited time with entertaining the trolling of rightists to no effect, so be it.

I mean Jesus, this is how leftist organizations get fucked up. "Oh, I didn't want to alienate an ally. I mean, yeah he was really sexually aggressive, but..."

Yeah, even if this a troll post, so what? It's completely unacceptable for us to dismiss fatphobia, which is certainly a real issue.
