Yeah, in COD games you get to shoot at the Middle Eastern bad guys because they're like VISIBLY EVIL, they have public executions, super evil dictator and access to WMDs. They know the US fucked up in Iraq big time and they need to clear up their morals, because if you give the bad Middle Eastern guys some nukes, then the invasion is fully justified... no "faulty intelligence", no underlying economic goals like stealing oil, no warcrimes (it's all good) etc, they have nukes and we can carpet bomb their cities.
In fairness, MW2 talked about how the US invasion was a colossal failure in large part due to not knowing what the fuck to do beyond blasting anything in sight, nukes or not. It also feeds into the "real" final antagonist being this vindictive US general who wants to inject the MIC with steroids after Muricans get nuked.
