Some British exchange student in one of my lectures this morning almost started crying when someone told him the Queen was dying, I dont get British peoples obsession with this shit
Here in the Netherlands people generally just dont give a shit about the Monarchy and often just think the whole thing's stupid when they get in trouble/controversy again (wich happens every few months)
People here in Denmark are absolutely fanatical about their queen. I'm already worried for the avalanche of cringe that will be unleashed once she dies. I'm going to get a massive headache because of it.
Does the queen even have any kind of public facing persona? My impression is that she's treated more like a British mascot among the public than an actual person. How do you get to that level of parasocial relationship while barely knowing that person's personality?
Does everyone just imagine her as their grandmother that they feel guilty for never visiting?

Bawling my eyes out for a dead imperialist in my free, non-cult country

Denmark and the Netherlands are the same place and you can’t convince me otherwise. Why else would the be called Dutch?
Don’t give me real answers with “facts” or I will block you
They are both really into bikes

You are absolutely right. We just pretend to be two separate countries in order to defraud the EU for agricultural subsidies.
