the rules- based international order
:israel-cool: how many UN resolutions has Israel violated again?
I love that they have this beloved doublespeak term for "Fuck international law we have guns".
While the United States and its closest allies in Europe and Asia have imposed tough economic sanctions on Moscow, 87 percent of the world's population has declined to follow us.
87 percent of the world's population
Umm wait what? I'm sorry, I didn't realize each individual had the power to impose economic sanctions on other countries? How do I sign up to be a part of that 87%???
a better way to put it would be "87 percent of the world's recognized sovereign states" because obviously the idea that each individual in the world receives real political representation is dogshit
All of this because the US/NATO couldn't keep it's dick in it's pants.
Me sowing: Haha fuck yeah!!! Yes!!
Me reaping: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.
Russian gas is being blocked from global export, so this is simple arbitrage.
Buy Russian gas at a discount and sell your own stuff at market rate. Pocket the difference.
So the west is still effectively buying Russian gas, SA is just making an extra buck to facilitate this transaction. LOL.
Oh yeah. They're effectively buying Russian gas at a premium. Russian gas normally sold below market rate, even before the sanctions.
This is what the US spent the last decade doing with fracking. It drove oil prices down to the point where fracking was no longer pofitable and is one of the reasons why the "rules based international order" is breaking down. The US stopped playing by the rules, i.e. buying oil at OPEC manipulated prices.
