This is great. We're going to get clips of Trump in front of Congress answering questions, and I guarantee that they will be funny.

Maybe, but I think this is a situation where both sides might conclude that it's in their best interest to go through with it. Dems get to say that they're holding Trump accountable, Trump gets to say that he's the target of a witch hunt.

Trump will say that regardless, and honestly I don't think any committed chuds would even be more emboldened by there being slightly more material backing to that idea

        face consequences

Oh, there will be hell to pay for Trump. The dems will write a sharply critical comment and it will be introduced into the Congressional Record.

Yeah Trump can probably claim the witch hunt whether or not he shows up (in fact he's been doing it all along). I don't think Congress has the brass tacks to send actual cops to force Tump to come down, but I think it's likely that he won't pass up the opportunity to be on TV in the Important Building.

Can’t imagine the future, can’t remember the past.

Istg this has just fully infected American society. The only thing that exists is now. Ramifications for the future? Doesn't matter. How we got to the present day? Doesn't matter. What's going to happen in the future due to our inaction with Covid? Doesn't matter. How did the Ukraine War start and what were the conditions and precursors to the conflict? Doesn't matter

I've been thinking about this a lot, the way every new imperial war is justified by creating a permanent state of exception

They'll deal with it by giving more money to the Democratic Party.

Also, this was their last hearing

I watched it on tv a little this morning and they briefly talked about how no charges were expected to be filed, that the committee's goal was to make sure that something like Jan 6th never happened again.

They're "voting on whether to subpoena him" today apparently.

The Parliamentarian licks their lips and rubs their hands together from behind a Presidential Blue curtain

I'm excited to see how he wriggles out of this one..

As in I know he will. I'm just interested in what dumb ass process gets broken that allows him to not do anything about this

The only thing worse than this weak liberal response to these fascists would be the liberals capitulating to their desire to completely forget about it

I recently claimed that the libs will think that the 'humiliation' of being on the stand is the comeuppance that Donald Trump deserves.

I now am fully lathing that Trump will be coked up and full dementia mode on the stand, that the libs think this will kill his presidential hopes, and then he'll win with 95% of the electoral college once state assemblies get to certify elections

Most of libs supported the Iraq war, they just have a disagreement on "tactics" with Bush. An Iraq war committee would also probably find that Biden was part of the conspiracy in his position as the Senate foreign committee chairman.

Yeah... our current president was the biggest damn supporter of all. His pep rally speech before the vote is still an amazing piece of bloodthirsty raw unfiltered imperialism. Kinda weird how his lifelong stutter isn't present though.
