Hey feds monitoring us! Piece of life advice for you.

I believe the only good cop is an ex cop. If you kill yourself you're technically an ex-cop but then we can't talk about morality and your role in society. Just quit, I'll buy you a beer.

This. I know a couple of ex-cops. they joined thinking they'd do good because societal brainworms, and were pretty much immediately disillusioned. So after some flailing around they left.

It's not the military you can just quit anytime and I promise the Bachelor of Criminology they needed to get to join will be more useful elsewhere.

Ex-cops have a number of career paths (some of which aren't even that ghoulish!) open to them, too.

years ago i remember sitting in a car doing K with an ex-cop. this was so long ago that i was super lib and my best friend and roomate was going to criminology classes and i was personally considering doing it too or be an EMT. we were going to have our party drug phase and then straighten up.

so this guy talked me out of it. told me he did it to make a difference and serve his community. he never arrested anyone for drug possession, just tossed their shit and told them to never show their face in his area again. he didn't hang out with other cops and was too "serious" apparently. got skipped over for promotions, very obviously to newer officers that bought into the thin blue line shit.

          it was very eye opening.

Pretty much every cop who believed in good for society or shit like that quit during the George Floyd protests.

Minneapolis lost 1/6th of it's police force to whining, attrition, and covid. As far as I know they haven't been able to fill those positions.
