Now all they have to do is have a Pokémon game with no missing monsters and we’re golden

Hot take: No. There's gonna be >1000 Pokemon with the new games, it was inevitable that they were gonna have to draw the line somewhere.

You can't cram every single fucking Pokemon into every future Pokemon game. Not just because of effort or development cost, but from a design perspective too. In past generations, you had every Pokemon coded in the game, usually about 70-80% were obtainable in any given game and the rest you had to transfer.

As the number of Pokemon increases, they cannot keep that percentage up, the games themselves would become too bloated. A new player shouldn't have to learn >1k Pokemon.

So then eventually there would come a point where, in order to get every Pokemon, you'd have to transfer >50% of them from other games & generations, and that would suck ass. Sword & Shield already has a "fuck it, here's like every box cover legendary, they're all hiding in this cave for some reason, go nuts" mode and it's still missing a lot.

It's just not feasible, especially in the long run.

Every time I've ever played a pokemon game, my main takeaway has been "arent there like a million pokemon? why have i been playing for hours and only seen like 7 different kinds?"

dump them all in there, it would be way more fun and only upsetting to people who care about nerd shit like "balance"

I'm with you. I don't think they should feel the need to shoehorn in every legendary and have an event for every special pokemon, but if they wrote the code like "this region has 80% bug types and 20% flying types of levels 5-20" and then made literally anything that fits that criteria able to appear, the absolute anarchy that would ensue would make the game more interesting.

the fact they dont include all of gen 1-4 is infuriating

Nah, other way around. Who fuckin cares about gen 1 and 2 at this point except 40 year olds.

Literally everyone. My 4 year old niece is obsessed with pikachu. You are out of touch if you think some Digimon ass legendary or key ring Pokémon is what people are into

That probably will never happen again - there's just too many of them. It's better to hope for a nicely curated roster but we all know they'll probably half-ass it.

It's so much easier too. They really need to do this for more games with character customization

Right? One of the first mods that gets made for every Bethesda RPGs is unlocking the "male" and "female" hairstyles so you can use them on whatever character you want. Sure, a few have clipping issues but who cares?

If people who played Bethesda RPGs cared about clipping they wouldn't have a fanbase.

It Bethesda had any business sense, they would try to buy the Clippers basketball team

I don't give a shit how much clipping and stretching there is, I still loved playing a Charr back in GW2. Big fuckoff lion dude carrying a blunderbuss and running on all fours.

Being able to switch whenever is great, too. I get choice paralysis for games like Monster Hunter that expect you to make a character then pay real money or start over if you end up wanting to change them later on.

I'm a straight cis dude, but damn the women in these games always get better customization, and now I can take that from them too. Hyped!

Gender-locked clothes/hair/etc is the most irritating shit in a gigantic budget game. You're not some indie dev strapped for cash and man-hours, just shut the fuck up and do the rigging for it.

i almost always made my characters guys in video games as a kid so i could have cool butch styling, women as romantic interests, and no creeps in my dms on MMOs

this is better, now I can just be a hot butch right in the game

that's cool. pokemon already has me over a barrel, but now i feel slightly less bad about the day one purchase. i know that's super liberal, but it's harmless and makes me happier so whatever
