Goddamn this shit is so telling. In the absence of any government-led public health response to a pandemic, masks are such an obvious preventative measure to home in on, and she has to be getting coached on deliberately not mentioning them at all. Advocating washing hands before masks--where are we, at the beginning of the pandemic again?
I'm so jaded by all the callousness. At this point, I and am more or less completely on board with the idea that our overlords have no financial incentive to put an end to this pandemic and are in fact trying to perpetuate this pandemic because
- they don't give a shit about the social murder of society's most vulnerable since they deem them as worthless anyways and less able to be exploited for profit
- there has been a huge transfer of wealth from the poor to the wealthy already since the start of the pandemic, i.e. disaster capitalism 101
- the enduring nature of COVID and the ways in which it continues to mutate is a opportunity for more permanent profit streams for vaccines, treatments, and tests, especially once those things become completely commercialized starting next year
- the endless cycle of getting infected and having acute infections that need medication/treatment/hospital care can be expensive as fuck for people. :porky-happy: And also, millions of people with long COVID are going to need treatment. :porky-happy:
Even if it's not actually deliberate and only sheer stupidity/myopia/hubris, the disastrous outcomes are the same regardless.
she has to be getting coached on deliberately not mentioning them at all.
She, the CDC itself, Biden's covid czar (Ashish Jha) etc have been acting like politicians for many months now. I'd say at least 6 months. It's became normalized. I posted a tweet by Noah Smith in this thread. A neolib's tweet reply to it mentioned "political valence". The neolib just plum forgot that the director of the CDC isn't supposed to be political. It skipped his mind because he got so used to every "democrat" doing it.
I hate that Noah dipshit, he is right up there with Matt Yglesias for being consistently wrong about literally everything.
director of the CDC isn’t supposed to be political
apolitical bureaucracy is a myth, politics is what the government does
Call me old-fashioned but even just before an election I do not think the director of the CDC should be causing illness, suffering, and death.
Biden telling voters it was safe to vote for him in the primaries at the beginning of the pandemic was a sign of bigger, more sadistic things to come.
Recent Noah Smith tweets...
People are flipping out at the CDC director for failing to mention masks in this tweet. Americans are never going to put masks back on unless a new pandemic comes. So I wonder if the people who are flipping out will simply continue flipping out for the rest of their days on this Earth. Also the CDC sucks and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.
"Unless a new pandemic comes" - what a vile turd he is. The "also..." ending makes it worse because he's pretending not to be a ghoul.
So I wonder if the people who are flipping out will simply continue flipping out for the rest of their days on this Earth
No, just until this barbaric rancid shit empire goes the way of Nonce Island and covid-poisons itself into international irrelevance, which at this rate I may not even be 30 for:shrug-outta-hecks:
I will also accept "until Noah Smith and this CDC director specifically are dead"
Edit lol CDC director just tested positive for covid
This pandemic has really put a spotlight on the ghouls. And they love it. They just love it.
So I wonder if the people who are flipping out will simply continue flipping out for the rest of their days on this Earth.
I have been resigned to the possibility that I would spend the rest of my life flipping out since...oh, let's say April 2021, and there have been no marked improvements to the facts on the ground since then. If this is taking Noah Smith by surprise then Noah Smith is a dense mofo.
Americans are never going to put masks back on unless a new pandemic comes.
Is he even wrong though? Only part I think he's wrong about here is that a new pandemic might not even do it.
Practice good hand hygiene
She's fucking with us.
Holy mother of god. I'm going to become the [redacted] and then [redact] and [redact] and [redact]...
LMAO
Someone should tell her about this new invention called respirators, I heard they're pretty effective at reducing chances of getting COVID.

First reply says "and mask up". Do not read the replies to that tweet though unless you want to get all :picard-direct-action:
God damn America, zero COVID will win, long live the People's Republic etc etc
I’ve waffled back and forth on it but every time Biden’s CDC says literally anything it pushes me back to this conclusion:
Biden is objectively worse than Trump. While Trump was adversarial to the CDC, Biden has made the CDC totally capitulate despite pushing the exact same policies Trump wanted. When Trump said covid is no big deal his morons followed him but libs reflexively acted out against him by taking the pandemic somewhat seriously. When Biden does it, the complete rubes continue saying it’s not real as they always will, but now the libs go “It’s okay now daddy Biden said it’s over!”
This is on top of the fact that under Biden we’ve lost the right to an abortion, and have arguably pushed closer to nuclear war than any time in the last 30 years
Earlier this year Biden was involved in not just one but two superspreader events. One after the other...

The Gridiron dinner

The White House Correspondents' Dinner
Libs nearly instantly forgot the first one. And then after the second one - they tightly memory holed both of them. For the most part - I gave up talking to them about Biden's covid response. Sometimes I just can't keep myself from writing something. But I always feel like a totally crazy person.

On top of that everything they held at gunpoint to "Vote blue no matter who" like Roe V. Wade etc literally still got murdered even after sufficient rubes voted blue no matter. He also stopped mandatory reporting (or in Trumps words "if we test less cases will go down"), didn't continue stimulus checks (even the ones he promised in pre-election speeches), ended/severely reduced the unemployment benefit, increased military spending, increased police budgets, allowed 'leftover' pandemic stimulus to be diverted to police budgets, etc etc etc.
I honestly didn't think I'd ever be in the "Biden was actually somehow worse than Trump" camp (not that I can vote anyway), but here the fuck I am. Don't get me wrong, I think Trump WANTED to be worse, I just don't think he was able to play the game.
I completely agree with absolutely everything you said. You managed to list all the things I was vaguely thinking of as bad
we've done so much to avoid getting it, but my partner this week caught it ... presumably while talking, OUTDOORS, with our LANDLORD who decided to drop by, all coughing and miserable and mask-less. such bummer
the house depicted in the home emoji is a mansion lmao
Death to America
Looks like a pretty standard 1300-1500 sq foot, 3 bd, 2 bath, 100K-300K depending on location.
300K
:sleepless:
I live in a small city (~600K people) East coast and that's 400K minimum, 500~600K if you want something decent.
a 3 bed 2 bath is at least 500k in the soulless suburb I grew up in lol what are you smoking
Death to America
Telling people to wear masks wont work unless enforced militarily at this point
Leftist: "Hey, lib - wear a mask!"
Lib: "I bet you didn't know that in red counties the death rate for covid is higher. Therefore..."
I'm gonna become the START DIGGING guy from the meme but for PUT ON THE FUCKING MASK
