In discussing his book in The Washington Post, Machtan told his interviewer that his research showed that some of Hitler's homosexual friends in Munich were the ones who opened many important doors for him, especially Ernst Röhm, Dietrich Eckart, and Ernst Hanfstaengl.[1][n 1] Machtan told the newspaper that "without their help he [Hitler] would not have had the support that he got from bourgeois circles and even from intellectuals and artists."

Woah a German guy trying to absolve the German bourgeoisie of fascist sympathies, how original

They still do this, where they'll create 'joke' images of Putin wearing makeup, and all the 'jokes' about Trump and Putin fellating each other; then they'll go on to brag about how they're pro LGBTQ

It's not that hard to insult people without being degrading to a completely uninvolved minority group

On another platform some Blue maga dork was doing their bit.

I called them out on it and they came back at me with something like "Would you rather have Trump and his boyfriend Putin in charge??"

I called them out on their queerphobia. We went through a whole cycle of denialism in the replies:

      • It's not queerphobic

      • It's just a neutral portrayal of Trump's relationship with Putin and it isn't casting a same-sex relationship in a denigratory light

      • It can't be queerphobic because I'm queer myself

      • It's okay to be queerphobic when Trump threatens people

      • It's okay to be queerphobic in defense of queer people

      • You're mentally defective if you think this is queerphobic

...there were a couple of other ones sprinkled in there too, I think. Idk I wasn't really paying much attention. I couldn't even be bothered to point out their kettle logic.

Of course when they eventually got around to attacking me based on my mental capacity I was like "Yup, there it is - you're gonna use ableism to defend your queerphobia. Wonderful!"

I know I shouldn't have any expectations but every time this plays out they always throw marginalised groups under the bus in their self-righteous crusade and I still find it galling.

Is it any wonder why PoC and people with disability in particular are always lukewarm about progressives? Feels like you can set a clock to countdown the seconds until they'll shit on one of these groups because progressives feel like they can have a little bigotry, as a treat, to reward them for working so hard at claiming the moral high ground. There's only so many times you can get burned before you start preemptively flinching, y'know?

(Obviously progressives will throw just about any marginalised group under the bus if it suits them and they'll also do shit like bodyshame and engage in really overt toxic masculinity all in service of The Cause™ [Do our small dick kings get included as a marginalised group? I think I can make a pretty good case for why they should but I don't want to start a struggle session over it.] but, historically speaking, it's routinely PoC and people with disability who are their first targets.)

whenever I peek over there 90% of the non-news threads are about things like this. "how do you reconcile that Jewish people and leftists have predominantly being the ones advocating for age of consent laws with all the accusations of leftist/Jewish grooming" etc. trolls trolling trolls all the way down.

On a similar note, the "Gay people are responsible for their own oppression" shit that Reddit libs push is one of their biggest hallmarks of cringe

(In other words, thinking that all anti-LGBTQ politicians are just closeted gays and using that as a "dunk" on them)

There is a book out there caled The Pink Swastika (cw extreme homophobia) by Scott Lively that was used by the religous right to justify discrimination against gays because gays were "inherently violent". They claimed a significant amount of SS leadership was gay (while prosecuting queers) to rebuff the narrative that gays / queers were violent predators that are default the worst of humanity and deserve to be discrimated and persecuted.

You see traces of this recycled in the "violent trans activists" with the current struggle.

SPLC - ANTI-GAY RELIGIOUS CRUSADERS CLAIM HOMOSEXUALS HELPED MASTERMIND THE HOLOCAUST

The myth that Nazis condoned or promoted homosexuality sprang up as a slander against Nazi leaders by their socialist opponents in the 1930s. Only one of the half-dozen leaders in Hitler's inner circle, Ernest Rohm, is believed by credible historians to have been gay.

The "gay Nazi" slander stuck, though, partly because German laws against homosexuals remained in place for a quarter of a century after World War II ended. That effectively silenced many homosexual victims of the Holocaust from telling their stories. A landmark survivor's memoir, The Men With the Pink Triangle, began to break that silence in 1972.
