The whole situation makes me so sad. I've always loved Kanye's music and managed to deal with his over-the-top personality because his narcissism really wasn't hurting anyone but himself. Now I can only see a man who's completely lost it surrounded by a bunch of clout-seeking worms who use Ye's unhealthy need for attention to promote their hateful agenda.
I know it's a matter of subjective taste, but even in his own genre, I never understood how anyone liked his music at all. It has to be quite bothersome that you do like it, but he shows his ass the way he does.
I'm personally into stuff like KMFDM, who are thankfully very outspoken Anarcho-Communists who always seem to have values in line with myself. I get annoyed that some of the artists I like are just apolitical or feckless liberals (Dave Grohl, for example). I got quite upset when Krist Novoselic outed himself as a Trump supporting chud. Stark contrast with Kurt Cobain and his outspoken feminism in the early 90's when it wasn't quite in vogue to be so.
I think I'm gonna go listen to Millions of Dead Cops now.
He has always been one of the most ambitious acts in mainstream hip hop and has very often been a trend setter.
Like, if you look at his very early productions for Jay-Z and then his first records, you can see the blueprints for the "slightly-sped up soul sample with heavy drums" type of production that would define the early 2000s. Then, there was 808s and Heartaches, which flopped on release but ended up defining mainstream rap for another couple of years (heavily-autotuned sing-song rapping with synth heavy beats). After that, there was My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy which is amongst the best progressive rap albums out there with its grandiose, over-the-top production.
After that, he kind of falls behind trends, with Yeezus being a rough attempt at industrial rap à la Death Grips or clipping. Life of Pablo and Kids See Ghosts are the two last projects where Kanye seemed to be on top of things...
In any case, like him or not (musically), dude was extremely influential and it sucks to see him go from the narcissistic asshole who said that George Bush doesn't care about black people and who sang "New Slaves" to a narcissistic asshole who's using his immense platform to give exposure to the very worst people and ideologies possible.
Haven't listened to KMFDM since high school, this video goes pretty hard.

He's really trying to play the Trump game but lacks the charisma and genuine humor Trump had. Most people watching are laughing at him because they think he sounds insane.
It's legitimately painful to listen to him talk, he just trips over his words and spits word salads, he doesn't have the laidback sassiness of Trump that makes him funny that's for sure. Trump was often incoherent, in that he would go on long digressions and unrelated grievances, but you could at least understand the sentences he was forming.
Trump at least is good at making it seem like he's saying something coherent. When he's on, he has the rhythms of fluent, improvised, laid back speech down. You listen to him and think you've followed it. It's not until you read a transcript that you realize it was total word salad, because he sounds like he's saying something reasonably normal.
Kanye sounds like a dude ranting in the subway.
So that person at TMZ was probably right about him saying he liked Hitler during the time he went and said slavery was a choice. This shit is wild.
