I always wonder how actually active those places are now that most of those previous edgy teens are now in their 30s or fuckin' 40s while most of Gen Z and beyond gravitate more towards open and public social apps, I feel those that end up in 4chan now don't just accidentally stumble in there

don't forget the influx of Q boomers that bumped the average age up even more.

Fuck I had an actual neighbor talk to my mom about kids in cages being harvested for adrenochrome, lady is in her goddamn 80s and grows flowers in her frontyard and peruses 4chan at night...

It could be explained to me a million times how this happened and it still would not quite register in my brain that the age demographics of 4chan did a complete 180. Like, my brain refuses to even form the image of boomers scrolling and posting on image boards.

It threw me for a loop cuss on the outside it's a sweet elderly lady that gardens and walks her little dog around, but at home she scrolls shitposts on 4chan. Like wtf...

Yeah this is the answer. Every other 4chan poster is now a 56 year old divorced auto body repair shop worker in Kentucky .

Running a single DDoS script on Habbo Hotel and telling your friends you're a hacker now was the peak of teen male culture.

I went on there for that as well as the fact they had at the time a sizeable community for tabletop gaming and rpgs, thankfully now those are more mainstream and so you don't have to deal with edgelords doing their own Eichmann fantasies in middle earth unless you venture into those internet sewers.
