I said this above too but the key difference between movies like SotS or Secret of Kells and The Breadwinner is the intended audience. It's a beautiful work of art on its face, but it's not made for the people it depicts.
Song of The Sea is an Irish fable made by Irish artists for Irish families. The Breadwinner is an English-language Afghani drama made by Irish and Canadian artists for Irish, Canadian and American bleeding hearts.
It's meh, kinda lib but then again the Taliban does suck as and it kinda looks/glosses over at how Afghan has been repeatedly invaded and fucked over for most of it's history (the main plot will also make you cry). The art style and animations are amazing.
I love the studio that made this (Song of the Sea, Wolfwalkers), but haven't seen this yet. How does it look from a lefists POV?
