Zoo officials say the animals had to be killed because there was not enough tranquilliser for all of them.

:jesse-wtf: how many monkeys do they have? and why do you not have enough tranquilizers when you're operating a zoo

Idk what the fuck is going on with zoos over here but this winter has been so fucked up.

Another zoo both lost a fucking King Cobra who ended up inside of the walls somewhere and they couldnt find him for like 5 whole days so they had to block off the whole tropical building from visitors, and then later they lost 2 big ass owls, one of which returned but the other was just flying around for like a week or something until they found him in a different part of the city just hanging out.

Those are minor compared to this though, catastrophic fuckup. They're literally describing this as being a siege against the chimpanzees still in the building, apparently also because of the cold wave a water pipe burst and set off fire alarms with the steam and they cant get into the building to shut it off(wether its either or both the water and alarm was unclear from what I read), so that cant be helping the situation either.

Idk if they've produced an excuse for the tranquilizer shortage either so far, its probably gonna turn out to be some fucking profit margin shit of assuming "hey, no emergency is gonna involve all of them at once right?".

I will say that I've seen people on :reddit-logo: speak at length about how chimpanzees are the 'evil' apes, comparing them against Bonobos or Orangutans and their peaceful demeanors.

I think they're definitely dangerous, but I think that sort of rhetoric feeds into the idea that some animals deserve violence more than others.

There are some monkeys that live close to humans in India and wander into the cities, they are not too dangerous. They can be though

A chimp is bigger and one from the zoo would be way more dangerous to be around. Not saying that is more deserving of violence or that they are more 'evil'

yeah i mean they're aggressive, but they're also animals. if we're going to take them out of their habitat (which we may or may not just destroy), then at bare minimum it's incumbent on us, on humanity, to not murder them.

but humans are clearly the evil apes

          or at least redditors are

Chimpanzees react much more violently when I enslave them for no reason or benefit to myself or other people. They don't worship me like some sort of conquering God Emperor of their primitive culture so they should be shot from helicopters actually :shapiro-gavel:

The Furuvik Zoo is located near Gavle,

They'll shoot a bunch of live chimps, but GOD FORBID YOU DESTROY THEIR GOAT EFFIGY.
