But please, believe that :reddit-logo: gives a shit about Muslims in China.

For the record, conservatism is a problem for Muslim-majority nations (and organized religion tends to be a den of reaction in general). Of course, as with all things, the problem must be analyzed in a materialist lens, not an idealist one which thinks that Muslims are a hivemind who are hypnotized by the Quran to stab infidels.

Not to mention that Western Muslims tend to be more socially progressive on average (gee, I wonder why). The fact that the OP pointed them out in particular borders on incitement.

And how many of those nations have governments established or held up by the US?

Countries like Bangladesh that were created against the wishes of the US are also very conservative.

British colonialozation definitely increased or introduced homophobia in the Indian subcontinent. At independence India and Pakistan kept the homophobic laws they inherited from the British but now days things are changing in India

How many anti-lgbt laws are colonial in origin? IIRC it's many or most of them

A lot for sure. Nepal wasn't a British colony and also banned LGBT relationships till 2007. But maybe they were still influenced by British India
