$140 to $137 in the last half-hour of trading. Lordy lordy lordy. What was the price that was likely to trigger a margin-call apocalypse? $130? We'll hit that by lunchtime tomorrow if this keeps up.
Edit: the general mood on today's /r/wallstreetbets thread about this could be summarized as "I've always known Musk was full of shit." If even those guys aren't biting anymore...
In June I was in the park thinking "I should put all of my savings into shorting tesla, this guy is a moron" but I didn't because I didn't wanna spend a week setting up some stupid investing app.
Jokes aside it is interesting how you can be rewarded with essentialy free other people's money in the neolib finical capitalist hellscape but the second it becomes apparent your imagined tomarrow is vaporware it drys up faster then a puddle in Las Vegas. :stonks-down: What seems to be qualitatively diffrent post 08 is how leveraged it seems like a house of cards built on a swamp in a earth quake zone.
Most of the time when people say something like "Bezos doesn't actually have $100 billion, it's all tied up in stocks and if he sold a bunch they would drop in value" it's bullshit because that stock represents significantly important means of production. But for Musk, that's basically true. His "net worth" is a whole load of hype and not much else. He was never really the richest man in the world and never will be.
Bezos is horrible and egotistical, but he’s trying to pitch Amazon as not needing him anymore, so that he could retire.
Musk has stated Tesla is him.
*Dangles a $20 bill in front of Jeff Bezos* "All your money is tied up in assets---I bet you've never even seen one of these! Haha."
:party-sicko: time to give the tesla episode of :trueanon: another listen see if I can learn more about short selling and if it's a way to make this happen faster
Elon is fighting with his investors on twitter. I wonder if Tesla would have to kick him out?
bazinga brains hurriedly googling 'tesla crash' for the first time and being surprised and panicked by the myriad results
