The reason these books do so well on Amazon and NYT lists is because the publishers buy the entire first run for themselves to boost numbers.
It's a low cost endeavor for getting your name all over every "best seller" list. Then they dump the first run in thrift stores so they get even more free publicity from people only seeing fucking Bill O'Reilly books in Goodwill.
I hate when I go to used book stores expecting high brow political analysis and all they have is boomer bill o'reilley books and shitty spy thrillers you buy at museum gift shops.

The only thing I've ever heard regular army grunts say about the seals and othe jsoc teams is that they're all roid raging psychopaths who go in to areas in the middle of the night, slaughter a ton of people who are usually civilians, and the fuck off to whatever black ops base they came from. In the morning the infantry grunts who have been trying to build trust and shut down insurgents in that region for months or years suddenly face an entire region that wants revenge for their murdered family members. Rinse and repeat for the entire war on terror.
