    All of China's neighbors, including:

Russia (kinda obvious) | Mongolia (no US Bases) | Kazakhstan (no US Bases) | Kyrgyzstan (the yanks left in 2014) | Tajikstan (no US Bases) | Afghanistan (literally had a 20 year old war to kick out the Americans) | Pakistan | India (no US Bases) | Nepal (no US Bases) | Bhutan (no US Bases) | Myanmar (no US Bases) | Laos (lol, lmao) | Vietnam (lol, lmao) | Philippines (literal former US colony) | Taiwan (descendent of a fascist dictatorship that only survived because of the US) | DPRK ( lol, lmao) | RoK (same as Taiwan) | Japan (nationalism-brainwormed, but even then the bases are really unpopular and surrounding areas tend to vote communist)

it also recently came out through declassified documents that Whitlam was opposed to ASIS operations in Chile in the early '70s, but didn't want to rattle the CIA and uh

well we know what happened next

Because america literally meddles in SEA politics, including helping Suharto and Marcos killing many people (at least 500-1 million dead in Indonedia alone) and there is no reason to believe that CIA/America stopped meddling in Southeast Asia.

Also even with the amount of sinophobes and anti communists Indonesia still doesnt allow US build bases here, I guess BRI worked.

china's neighbors were couped during the cold war . Their leaders were replaced with a compliant neocolonial comprador bourgeoisie. This was done in the name of "containment." And this fucking bowtie dipshit's job is to sweep that history under the rug and pretend America's neocolonial presence in Asia was democratically ushered in by the people of Asia, who were just too weak to have national sovereignty.

A bunch of them are just territories seized at the end of the Cold War.

Asking why Japan, of all places, wants US military bases is like asking why a teenager wants acne. Or, perhaps, why a serial killer wants a trip to the electric chair.

Smol bean political analysis, oh they are all just afraid of China because China mean, there can be no other political calculations involved like securing their power in the region by allying with a rabid mass murdering country that also wants to secure its global power and hegemony.
