I don't know if it's real or not, but this does remind of America's victim complex with all it's mass murdering Imperial adventures. The worst popular media depiction of this, is the movie Deer Hunter (1978), American soldiers are the true victims of the horrors of the Vietnam War, all Vietnamese are depicted as sadistic monsters. Absolutely disgusting movie, but it's highly acclaimed.
