    Zelensky

This fuckin' guy. Projection, as always, since his unwillingness to negotiate with Russia in good faith is what's going to cause WW3, if anything.

it's hard to tell with Zelensky whether he says what he says because he has a gun to his head, or because he really feels that way. I used to entirely blame the US for sabotaging peace in Ukraine, and see Zelensky mostly as a victim of circumstance. But then I began to learn more about his personal corruption, his relationship to Kolomoisky, the fact that he recently admitted he never intended to uphold Minsk 2, etc. Dude's weird. Dude literally dressed in suits like a standard neolib until he became president at which point he adopted to the McBane persona, grew out a beard, and dressed in drab military gear because he has an advertising deal with some fashy fashion company. He's pure spectacle. a former comedian who played the lead role in a TV show about a school teacher who becomes president of ukraine... then actually became president of Ukraine. The neo nazis clearly don't like him for being Jewish, but are willing to tolerate him because he makes Ukraine look "progressive" (in a completely superficial way) to its EU/US benefactors... the whole thing is bizarre to me.

He's basically the Trump president as brand but in reverse. Instead of being president and using it to flog your own shitty products, he's a president who will shill everyone else's shitty products or ideology, including war and his selling off his own country.

Sure, credit where credit is due I guess. Though, at this point I can't really tell USA/NATO interests apart from Ukraine's.

But of course, it wasn't World War when 30+ Western countries decided to get involved a year ago.

gonna? he's already doing it apparently. while failing totally at the war and on the brink of collapse and undersupplied, he's nevertheless operating death camps or something, i dunno.

i cant stand reading reddit now.

Not to be That Guy, but while there's no evidence that's what happening in this case, the premise isn't inherently ridiculous. Doesn't that exactly describe what was happening in late Nazi Germany?

And more specifically he hasn't blamed the Ukrainian people for Russia's problems or said they're all out to destroy Russia or any other genocidal rhetoric like that. Really he likely sees Ukrainians, especially in southern Ukraine, as "little Russians", and why would he genocide Russians?

Completely overshadowed by all the trumpists with literal 4chan/Twitch frog emojis asking for Freedom and daddy Trump to save them.

2019 HK protests on reddit was about the last time it was somewhat effective pointing out to all the libs how they were literally supporting Trump/alt-right/fascists in the most obvious color revolution ever.

I think they're the only "important" (as in, geopolitical and economic power)nation who can say "i'm done with this bullshit, let's figure it out" and claim relative impartiality. Most countries from the global south are done with it, but they can't go out and say it without getting chastised by global north countries

I've figured it out. China will broker a peace deal. All of the people utterly convinced that Russia is losing now have a mental out. It wasn't that I was a dilluded idiot supporting neonazis, it was some massive conspiracy where the duplicitous Chinese pulled the strings to make Ukraine surrender, otherwise they would have won.

Chinese diplomats seem of the position that they want nothing to do with wars, generally speaking. The closest thing to a military conflict they have brewing is territory disputes over Taiwan, an island that has been recognized as territory of the Chinese government for the better party of a century. Even then, a lot of the conflict appears to revolve around whether US warships can just cruise through the Taiwanese Straight on the theory that an independent Taiwan gave them permission to do so.

Beijing has been far and away one of the most peaceful actors in global politics in living memory.

Zelensky sounds a little more reasonable with added context, more scared than chest thumping. Ukraine would end up looking like the Korean War if China and Russia were to face NATO there.
