    They want this to go statewide? I thought it was only going to be within the county itself. Jesus. And people continue to flock to these states.

      Cultural federalism baybeeeee. When your society can no longer agree on basic tenets of reality, may as well move to a place whose preferred version of reality aligns with your own.

      it's a hack joke, but the place really has some kind of elephant graveyard aspect to it that brings in elderly people by the truck load. i could talk a lot about what effects that kind of internal migration has on a location, but it seems self-evident that demand for support services (medical, retail, food preparation, home care and the logistics of all 4) would increase.
