The right has been getting a bigtime education in Critical Theory, and they don't like it one bit. It's dissolving their entire worldview like detergent in water. Now they're desperately grabbing at the weapons of the enemy to try and turn the tide.

It probably won't work. It's lose-lose. Either they let Critical Theory run its course and it kills them, or they oppose it with authoritarian measures and everyone sees them for the fascists that they are. And the backlash to that kills them.

I would not want to be a rightist in America these days. I know it's all doom-n-gloom on the left but the right are clearly losing the culture war, and losing big. In 20 years most college graduates will be queered, and the rate of family formation will plummet.

Conservatives seem to be winning the culture war pretty hard actually, at least on trans issues.

I'd bet what's actually happening is there is a loud minority (fascists, politicians, christian totalitarians, etc.) and 99% of conservatives don't actually care beyond the obvious misinformation they easily fell for.

You're wholeheartedly buying into the conservative framing on this. It's fiction. Straight relationships aren't gonna vanish or become gauche or whatever. You seem to think that we've gone from telling queer kids that they're unnatural sinners, to telling straight kids that they're unnatural sinners. This has not happened. More kids are identifying as LGBT because, increasingly, nobody is being told they're unnatural.

When these kids are in their twenties the world will be changed, and it will never go back to the old way.

we're less than 20 years away from the next generation of kids changing the world permanently, and we've been less than 20 years away from this for the last 70 years. There is no salvation in waiting for [the alright kids to grow up / the dastardly old people to die]. People said the same goddamn thing about the hippies when they were growing up. Turns out, class interest reproduces itself. Just like there were boomers and gen-xers and millennials who bought into status quo politics because it aligns with their specific material interests, there will be zoomers who do the same thing and for the same reason.

The hippies did change the world permanently. The stereotype of the college professor used to be a stodgy old conservative with a sportscoat and patches on the elbows. Today's professor has a ponytail and is adjacent to Marxism. Change happens, it just doesn't happen as fast as people would like. It does happen, though, and it is irreversible.

It’ll be the same as a kid showing up in a sleeveless T-shirt and ballcap with confederate flag on it. You think anyone is going to have anything to do with him?

Depends on where you live, honestly. In my hometown? He'd probably be mallgoth tier - not detested, just sort of ignored. In my spouse's hometown? Watch your mouth, that's the captain of the football team you're talking about.

or they oppose it with authoritarian measures and everyone sees them for the fascists that they are.

??? simply "seeing them for the fascists they are" doesn't mean anything. Simply noticing them does nothing. They have to be removed from power by force before they kill people. But there isn't enough backlash.

But most of Amerikkka loves the cops, loves the troops, approved of the war on terror, etc. Amerikkkan culture is fascist culture, and most Amerikkkans are basically fascists. Fascism has always been the cultural hegemony in America. Even when Amerikkka "fought fascism" in WW2 it was doing damage control for a problem Amerikkka's bankers and industrialists created in the first place, since they funded Mussolini's and Hitler's rise to power. Even if every Republikkkan disappeared tomorrow, you'd still have the Demokkkratic fascists who, while they aren't gearing up to genocide LGBT the way the Republikkkans are they will gladly continue to drone strike children in the 3rd world and support crushing neoliberal austerity and deregulation that's killing people every single day.

I think this is just a hard concept for some people to accept. Yeah, your dad doesn't don a swastika or join a death squad but he's still probably a fascist.
