There's a bit of a difference between a Chinese balloon and a $32 million US military aircraft.

Have you seem our military budget? That 32 mil is probably the same percentage of our budget that china's military spent on a balloon

A one to one comparison of budgets doesn't make sense. The purchasing power is different. Money in China goes further as they don't care to pay their employees as well. They can produce equipment for a fraction of the cost.

I bet the insanely well paid engineers that went to the top colleges and universities in world that are designing and manufacturing this stuff in the US do a better job than the underpaid Chinese guys. Russia is demonstrating that quantity doesn't have any clear advantage over quality. China has made lots of its shit based on Russian designs and military dogma.

From r/worldnews thread discussing this and the balloon scare. lol fucking lmao yet at the same time these takes make me wanna die

The engineering faculties of top US and global universities are like... 60% Chinese people.

All the top American universities are filled with elite students and faculty imported from countries with better education systems. These Redditors are a joke.

Soon it’ll be 0% because the US will keep accusing every Chinese kid in college of being a spy and alienating them from the military industrial complex. If I remember correctly, the US intelligence and military has a huge shortage of mandarin speakers lol

I’m willing to bet that over 50% of the well paid engineers in the US are overpaid. If you’re doing work from home while your job is “managing” super duper top secret spy and military shit, yeeah something tells me you don’t have a real job.
