    I think they just don't want competition. I'm not convinced the TikTok format is a threat to propaganda.

      Yeah tiktok dominates gen z way more than any other media, they want meta/google having all the market (instagram reels/youtube shorts)

        Fucking youtube shorts broke their thumbnail feature like 6 months ago and still havent fixed it, because they don't give a solitary fuck

        6 months of Shorts video thumbnails just being random fucking parts of the video, literally millions of videos with incomprehensible images lowering their own engagement because eh, we can just ban our competition

        Misunderstood what you meant by derailment. There was plenty of OC about it on twitter too

        That's the coverage, but the real reason this just picked up steam is facebook got un-distracted by VR and hired more lobbyist ghouls to kill competition, just like they did with Vine.

        TikTok US is full of the same sort of ghouls, doing the same thing any other social media monopolist does for discourse in the west--amplifying the right and silencing the left.
