why are we still mocking that user? they had some bad takes and started a surprising number of struggle sessions but they were well-meaning

After I read enough of their comments, trying to figure that out, I was convinced they were genuine. They had some longer comments, and they got into some extended discussions with people where pretty much no one else was reading.

I never got that vibe, even if they got into extended discussions I never saw any sign of changing their mind or actually internalizing the arguments presented.

That combined with the whole "just make one blanket reply to copy paste all over the thread" bit convinced me to just write them off. It doesnt really matter how genuine someone actually internally is if their posting bears no difference to a troll or liberal shill.

yeah they also are still, very occasionally, posting on the hexbear mastodon instance.

they post like a boomer with tons of hashtags and stuff but seem to mean well

All I can say is they reminded me of a lot of the cringe stuff I used to post a handful of years ago. I could relate. When I started posting in r/CTH and Dirtbag HQ I was a shitlib with a lot of latent brainworms. I just thought these places talked about interesting subjects while the more liberal spaces on Reddit and IRC would spend an entire day talking about Pelosi ripping up a piece of paper or some other meaningless shit.
