My brain is infected and I'll never know if that person was an elaborate bit or the weirdest person who's ever lived. I would move on but I'm now forever cursed.

I pray daily that I get mentally well enough to leave this dopamine factory

I have come to feel this way about all my internet hang-outs :sadness-abysmal:

why are we still mocking that user? they had some bad takes and started a surprising number of struggle sessions but they were well-meaning

After I read enough of their comments, trying to figure that out, I was convinced they were genuine. They had some longer comments, and they got into some extended discussions with people where pretty much no one else was reading.

I never got that vibe, even if they got into extended discussions I never saw any sign of changing their mind or actually internalizing the arguments presented.

That combined with the whole "just make one blanket reply to copy paste all over the thread" bit convinced me to just write them off. It doesnt really matter how genuine someone actually internally is if their posting bears no difference to a troll or liberal shill.

yeah they also are still, very occasionally, posting on the hexbear mastodon instance.

they post like a boomer with tons of hashtags and stuff but seem to mean well

All I can say is they reminded me of a lot of the cringe stuff I used to post a handful of years ago. I could relate. When I started posting in r/CTH and Dirtbag HQ I was a shitlib with a lot of latent brainworms. I just thought these places talked about interesting subjects while the more liberal spaces on Reddit and IRC would spend an entire day talking about Pelosi ripping up a piece of paper or some other meaningless shit.

Yeah, but these are OFFICER JOBS in the military. You need a vanguard that was educated in tactics by the imperial forces to understand how to beat them. Leninist AOC is preparing for the next stage of revolution and you fake leftists are mocking her for it

She's in the running for least awful Congresswoman for this very reason.

I think the current Congressional Ethics Committee is still investigating whether her "Eat the Rich" gown was a violation of campaign finance law. That's where we're at with this country.

We were robbed when Bob Dole was taken from us too soon to livestream Battlefield I and spend the whole time complaining that it's not like the way that he remembers it

There's an alternate universe where Dole wins in 96 and 2000 and is president during 9/11

Maybe no Iraq war? They should have made this a hinge points episode, picking really fucking weird shit would make better episodes of that in general I think

Not sure about the MIC not morphing 9/11 and the Global War on Terror shit into an excuse to launch preemptive attacks on anyone that British Petroleum doesn't like. Operation: Desert Fox was indicative that the defense contractors pretty much had a lock on foreign policy for any reason they could drum up, and I doubt that Dole's cabinet would have contained any fewer careerist warhawk ghouls (a la Rumsfeld) than Bush's.

President Dan Quayle's handling of Hurricane Katrina, though...

NYC DSA is completely captured by apologists and opportunists for this kind of stuff

The National Political Committee is also basically divided 50/50 between people who only care about keeping our name attached to her (and similar politicians) and people that have come to recognize her and her ilk are bad for the org. This has effectively paralyzed the NPC (on a number of topics) and it's unlikely they will actually do anything significant until the new one is seated after convention.

The biggest red flag for AOC when she first ran was that she majored in IR. Small chance she had based anti-imperialist professors. Odds are though she just got a lot of propaganda.
