On top of the dehumanizing and embarrassing experience of desperately marketing yourself to some piece of shit small business tyrant chud, you also need to actually answer all of the dozens of scam and debt collecting calls you normally ignore everyday.
Fuck, can't they just publicize the phone number they'll use to set up an interview so I'll know it's them? This is some bullshit.
you could use a different number for applications, using either voip or call forwarding
and every time you do, it's a robo scam or a recruiter or a scammer pretending to have a job or a scammer pretending to be a recruiter :angery:
The fuck why aren’t they using email?
I guess i do work in an industry of anti-social losers with anxiety disorders. It’s great, no calls. No one calls you ever.
Sometimes, they do need to have a bit more back-and-forth than is good for email.
Thankfully, something that is getting popular is to schedule a quick call to talk about pre-interview stuff.
Then you hear the like a single beep and it hangs up and you're put on yet another spam list.
me rn job hunting. they spoof your local area code, so i never know if it's a call back for a job or not. hint: it's always a scam caller but i pick up anyways
Wait really?? I always still screened calls even when I was applying lmao. Maybe I was shooting myself in the foot without even realizing.
I was looking for a job and then I found a job hours, who's up
I never answer on the first call. If it's for a job they'll usually leave a message and I'll call back. It's just good manners because then I can prepare for the phone interview they're inevitably gonna go through, like remembering what this company i applied to actually does.
And fuck it I have a life outside job hunting.
I haven't been hunting for years. but I am still in the miserable habit of answering my phone : (
Yup its very annoying. I do appreciate robocalls have that 3 second pause in the start and I can just hang up right away cause they all have it
