I love the video game trend of “It’s so much better now!” Where multiplayer games get updates only your friends who never stopped playing some game get to tell you why you should come back but to you the game is effectively identical.

Like I get you really like Overwatch but if you put Overwatch 2 in front of me and never told me it was a sequel I would never of known there was a difference. I wouldn’t of remembered how many people were on each team if everyone wasn’t claiming it’s game changing.

I’m glad your favorite game got an update you’re excited about but I don’t get what all the fuss is about.

apparently CS had an issue with client-side blooms so you could get 1-way situations and that's actually really bad for players and fixing it is a big deal

bruh i even remember when they didn't separate classes and limit class amounts

actually, I've only played overwatch once after that change

This is dumb. Not even Counter Strike Global Offensive 2. Just “Counter Strike 2”

Can’t wait for Half Life 3 to be rebranded as “HALF-LIFE” and then the sequel: “HALF-LIFE 2”, which is different from Half Life and Half Life 2

    CLEANER, BRIGHTER, BETTER

:hypersus: why does everything need to be “cleaner” and “brighter?” Forgive me for wanting a game about terrorists blowing stuff up to be a little gritty

It’s the same game but in a new engine. It’s more analogous to calling Skyrim Special Edition “TES 6”

But every Counterstrike game is pretty much the same game but in a new engine. I propose we call this CS5. CS1.5/CS1.6, CSCZ, CS:S, CS:GO, CS2 (CS6).

But you can literally transfer your inventory and stats over from CSGO lol. Sure, previous games don’t have stats and global skin inventories, but most games that are ‘different’ don’t carry your stuff from the previous entries over

Why did they keep Dota 2 the same name? They also transferred it to Source 2

Not exactly the same, but yes, it is an update. Youre right. CSGO will receive an update in the summer and be replaced. Makes sense as a rebrand though.

I'm happy with the lightning changes, this makes the game more competitive. Pros currently use nvidia GUI to increase contrast ratio etc. so they can see enemies better. It's not a gritty game about terrorists, it's the biggest competitive FPS in the world

        just to remind everyone:

        Battlefield 1942
        Battlefield Vietnam
        Battlefield 2
        Battlefield 2142
Battlefield: Bad Company (maybe can be excused for being a console spin-off)
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (literally cannot be excused because it was also on PC and played the same as all mainline games, except for map design)
        Battlefield 3
        Battlefield 4
        Battlefield Hardline
        Battlefield 1
        Battlefield V
        Battlefield 2042

Ah great can't wait to load into a server, hear 20 different slurs in the first minute, drop out, and uninstall the game again.

Some things look interesting but it looks-sounds like simply CSGO+ if I’m being honest. Which is fine since there’s only so much you can do, I suppose.

The tickrate stuff... I'll believe it when I see it. Calculating the in-between is basically guessing based on data that the server literally does not have. It's gonna be shooter-favoured and cause situations where someone feels like they shouldn't have been hit because they inputted a crouch during the in-between on the same tick but it's only calculated for the shot or whatever.

Love watching all the plebs crying in twitch chat about "PUBG and Valorant players getting beta keys before me". Like, yeah, no shit. Valve is trying to market their product to NEW USERS, they know old users are gonna play no matter what. The devs aren't loyal to the players, they're loyal to $$$. It's like the Democrats trying to court Centrists cuz they know leftists have nowhere else to turn

It's especially frustrating when valve does it. Steam prints money, they're rich beyond belief, but instead of doing cool hobbiest shit and indulging their community they release like one game every couple of years. idk. I guess their hardware experiments are cool.
