Trump's 2016 win really and utterly broke Olbermann's brain. Back in 2017 (and 2018?) GQ used to put his bizarro world vids on their Youtube channel. I watched them for fun.

He was predicting Trump's certain and about-to-happen downfall every other week. My favorite vid was when - with a straight face - he said Bill O'Reilly's firing was "presidential impeachment by proxy".

Bill O'Reilly's Downfall (And Trump's, Too?) | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann | GQ

      Apr 24, 2017

"I'm Keith Olbermann, and this is The Resistance. The firing of Bill O'Reilly was presidential impeachment by proxy, and it just might have shown us a roadmap to presidential removal by economic pressure..."

Then he suddenly stopped making the vids and he took a long break from politics. I think he just tweeted about dogs and baseball. But starting a while ago (a year ago?) - he went back to ranting like an insane person.

It also broke every other liberals brain. He is the total anti-thesis to their political views. It isn't just that he is politically opposed to their agenda, its that he is living ridicule of their ideology. His success is open mockery of the institutions they defend and praise, and his presence shakes the public's confidence in the democratic party as an effective "counter" to the republican party. Trump dominance of the Republican party fires up leftism in a way that frightens and infuriates liberals.

They don't have an answer for him, and they don't realize they helped create him. They know he is an agent of change and that is what they hate most.

Drumpf will be good for business when he gets back in office, CNN and MSNBC aren't doing their normal numbers like they used to when they were part of the rEsIsTaNcE, we'll see all our old favorite grifters and liberal brain geniuses come out of the woodwork, it'll be like a giant high school reunion

Drumpf will be good for business when he gets back in office...

Trump is great for business right now. Last week I gave up trying to get top of the hour news on MSNBC because every fucking hour started with "Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump!..." And that's going to be the case starting tomorrow until he finally gets indicted that day or Wednesday or Thursday because those are the days the grand jury meets.

But MSNBC never mentions those three days so they'll pump him up on Tuesday too. And then after he gets indicted - "Trump!" will be at the top of most hours for MSNBC until election day.

Speech was mid at best, lost the crowd on multiple occasions. Kind of a let down.

I downloaded it and I started to listen to it at 1.18 speed. After ~5 minute I was bored so I started up jump in 60 seconds intervals. The only thing that caught my ear was a "Mr. President, sir" bit but when I listened to it - it was actually pretty dull and not funny at all.

He's first 2024 speech was pretty much the same. His heart wasn't in that one either. I think it's pretty funny that any republican would literally kill their own mother to be in his position at the top of the food chain but he'd rather be playing golf and "tweeting" grifts on Truth Social.

It’s likely someone on his team wanted to make it a secret nod to the siege.

Right wingers are obsessed with Waco and Ruby Ridge because they’re watershed moments for the gun rights movement. That should tell you a lot about their brains. They care more about cultists and white supremacists having their constitutional rights ‘violated,’ but never talk about the Panthers (gun control enacted or when Hampton was raided) or the MOVE bombing or any other minority who had their guns and speech taken from them.
