I've learned from becoming a motorcycle guy that the exact part of my brain that likes Linux and coding also likes carburetors and welding. This has to be an untapped market: sell your vehicles by explicitly comparing your competition to Microsoft and Apple and yourself to FOSS, recruit a cohort of DIY-types who rightfully don't ever want to pay a monthly fee for heated seats.
It's already kinda a thing with people cracking their EV control boards.

That's what I mean, even with it locked down people are trying to tinker. It's only a matter of time until some EV company forms and does like open hardware stuff that lets car nerds tinker with their cars.
