    All medications err on the side of extreme caution when it comes to expiration dates. It's a much appreciated public safety measure, but one you can usually overlook (do your own research first). I've taken old medications years past expiration and they have worked as intended but YMMV.

      Generally old medications just aren't as effective, as some of the active compounds have broken down over time. But this is NOT true for tetracycline drugs! (tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, etc) as expired tetracyclines can cause kidney issues. Just fyi
