My understanding was more along the lines that once you pierce the rubber you’ve created an opening that bacteria could make it’s way into even if you’re using alcohol before each pierce. Obviously this is meant to err on the side of caution. It’s a general rule for all multi use injection vials, usually 28-30 days be it insulin, flu vaccine, or hrt.

It's mainly this as well as possible measure of medication stability (i.e. the mean tested average they've obtained when the med might be losing its effectiveness).

All medications err on the side of extreme caution when it comes to expiration dates. It's a much appreciated public safety measure, but one you can usually overlook (do your own research first). I've taken old medications years past expiration and they have worked as intended but YMMV.

Generally old medications just aren't as effective, as some of the active compounds have broken down over time. But this is NOT true for tetracycline drugs! (tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, etc) as expired tetracyclines can cause kidney issues. Just fyi

yeah my estrogen says something similar iirc. i talked to my doc about it and she was just like "yeah i'm not gonna sit here and tell you to do it do it but i will say i've never had anyone ever have an issue"

like others said, meds err on the side of "throw this away 13 minutes after exposure to earth's gravity" but that's rarely necessary

Does it really ?? Ah well, the shit I have doesn't say anything like that .

The rule I've been living by is basically, just go til the liquid iis no longer transparent, colorless, etc (at which point of course just throw it out( Idk I'm a dirt poor fuckin junkie so Lmao it is what it is you know?

But anyway, I don't see why 30 days isn't ok if your shit was still ok at the 28 day mark

It's fine. The medicine doesn't expire, though the oil it's suspended in will denature after a period of up to several years.

that's just there for liability reasons, the medicine in the vial will last for years even after puncture
