saw some langley boys r/worldnews users shitting their pants over this.

:wojak-nooo: you have to do trade with the dollar what if China manipulates the currency? Don't you know that almost all of BRICS is authoritarian? Really weak shit.

Also holy shit I still have not adjusted to having a Brazilian president whose voice doesn't make my blood boil

Lula is in danger of winding up in a ditch Gadaffi style if he keeps this up.

in seriousness, he'd only be saying this publicly if he felt he was sufficiently safe and had the political capital to do something here. full solidarity with comrade Lula!

You're not wrong. Making sure peoples' needs are met with social democratic concessions would make it far easier to manufacture consent and would revitalize the well of consumers/workers. To say nothing of the fact that the US under a "socialist" president could try to play "good cop" with countries moving from le international rules-based order as opposed to instantly resorting to strong-arming/sanctions/coups/whathaveyou.

But it seems to me that the neoliberal hegemony is either resigned to its decline (and thus trying to extract as much value as possible to enrich the right people while the "good times" last) or is convinced that magic will happen if they stay their course and just patch any leaks with the right amount of tape.

It's all hubris. They believe their own lies. They breath it.

This war with Russia and seizing billions in countries dollars would not have happened under Sanders. That's what started all of this. Bidens admin is filled to the brim with condescending moronic libs that thought America was still untouchable

I’ve been saying this since bernie lost in 2020, the new crop of liberal managers have all the beliefs but none of the skill of the ghouls of the cold war. Managers so high on their own supply they lack the vision to see they lack the skills needed to rule, simply thinking it works like a switch cause they said so.

:michael-laugh: my favorite thing the chapo guys would say during 2020 is that Bernie represented the off ramp to the empire. A way for american empire to die gracefully and slowly while allowing its citizens some dignity (potentially i.e. medicare for all). Thats basically all off the table. Every other candidate from then on out is the accelerationist candidate

I don't see the Empire dying in the case Bernie was allowed to win, anymore than it "died" after FDR's New Deal (or the British Empire after it elected Labour). If anything, Bernie was their ticket for maintaining the course in a more measured manner.

Thats more or less how i saw the chapo guys "off ramp" comment. At least thats how i viewed it. I don't think the empire would have died under Bernie, but i think there would have been a switch to managed decline instead of the denialism and overreaching fantasies of the rest of the political class

This all but confirms that Bolsonaro and the CHUDs are nothing more than pro-US shills. Their nationalism is as flimsy as their moral code. Outside of America, right-wing nationalism almost always means willfully being a puppet of Amerikkka. Non-American CHUDs are little more than the Saiyans that went along with Frieza's bullshit.

he also got into the times 100 today with al gore writing his profile "...after years of state-sanctioned environmental degradation and destruction, the people of Brazil chose a new path by electing a climate champion in Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva." good timing really

One thing i remember from when Lula was in prison, is that he talked about how he had always been anti-nuclear weapons proliferation. But then in prison he realized that it would be better if brazil had some nuclear weapons because then the US wouldnt fuck with them and put their politicians in jail, for example. That made me real excited for him to get out and become president again. So far he hasn't disappointed

Damn getting sent to jail by US puppets really set him off huh. He's always been a social democrat but maybe the possibility of challenging US hegemony will break his chains. :cat-com:
