Unless it’s a service animal, I don’t like when dogs are in public buildings. Tired of trying to buy food at the grocery store but having to dodge dogs and avoid stepping over their leashes. This anger is mostly directed at their owners as I’m skittish around dogs I don’t know.

pretty much everybody between the ages of 17 and 45 has tattoos now. almost none of them are worth seeing. not yours though, the person reading this. yours are compelling, aesthetically interesting, and make you stand out as an enchanted, artistic poet in an roiling ocean of mediocre strivers, scratching to express their timid hearts to everyone around them, but no one in particular.

Especially if your tattoo is a Chinese character or Kanji you can neither pronounce nor understand without the help of a translation app. Doubly so if you never asked a native speaker to check it before getting inked.

An ex who I'm still friends with has a bunch of tattoos and still likes to bring up the time I (cringely) said "at this point I almost feel more unique not having tattoos"

Another friend won't get them for self-proclaimed opsec reasons which I used to echo but now I just don't care

And a good friend of mine on my last birthday while bar crawling was hugely insistent we get (not matching, but similar theme) tattoos to represent our friendship and I said I didn't want to get my first tattoo while drunk, there were a bunch of us and some were down for a flash but it wasn't till we got to a place and they weren't taking anymore clients that she relented, though she still brings up that we need to get them. She got her first when she turned 18 and driving by a tattoo parlor spontaneously dropped in and got a turtle tramp stamp. She thinks it's funny now but still that's what we're dealing with

I have ideas but just never felt convinced enough in one to get one, plus I'm never flush with cash and that seems a silly way to part with what I've got. I'm told once you start you want more but I'm in no rush

There are some dope Polynesian tribal tattoos but otherwise I agree with this sentiment.

Too bad most of them are pretty culturally meaningful and other people shouldn't really get them

I considered getting a tattoo once of :doggo-matapacos: except it was a near identical picture of my dog but then decided against it.

Everyone where I live has like the same super basic tattoos too. Oh you got an outline of the state tattooed on your calf? How original.

Yeah... I don't think most tattoos are ugly or bad taste or anything I just think it is very rare to see a tattoo that makes someone look better than if they had not done it.

I don't think it's necessarily about making yourself look "better" whatever that means. People get tattoos for different reasons than they wear makeup or dress up.
