It takes all my energy just to ignore them all. However, I watched the YT clip of Data defeating Lore in their shared mental landscape a 100 times already, just a great clip.
Say what you will about Enterprise, but we were robbed of Shran joining the crew for potentially a couple of seasons and I will never let go of that
shran is my favorite blue himbo. in a just world we would have gotten a season long bromance where shran and his ship just followed the enterprise around like puppies and helped them out
Soong is a narcissistic freak for real, he keeps remaking himself. Plus, all the Soongs are supposed to be obsessive loners who presumably wouldn't have time or inclination for romance or procreation beyond literally cloning himself. I think they've all been clones - plus it gives Brent Spiner a chance to play multiple characters lol.
IMO Brent Spiner is an exceptionally talented television actor, and using him a lot probably seemed like a good idea on paper.
Which, I guess, represents a whole second layer of Great Man Theory brainworms.
I can't believe how formulaic this latest series finale is. They've done it again. Borg and a giant alert of federation ships. Every fucking time
Adam Soong was an expert in genetics after all; got that Soong vital essence on lockdown. :data-revolutionary:
Oh I thought you were going in a different meta level to this... I thought you were complaining that Trek went from a franchise where they would swap out the entire cast because the strength of the show was in its ideas, to a zombie franchise where they just endlessly dredge up the same characters and actors over and over and over again, as if it was those specific Great Men that made the earlier stuff so good.
It feels silly to complain about this since it's been like this since the JJ Abrams 2009 film and debatably even earlier, and they do still make some series with new crews, but it really bugs me. Picard was an excellent character but I'm not excited to just see Picard again, or any number of those actors/characters. What I want is more episodes written like TNG was written, and the very idea of regurgitating Picard back up when his story already ended so nicely is something the TNG writers wouldn't do.
