What if we made the same foolish attempt to invade Russia, but took the longer and more treachorous route?

hegel and engels both failed to realize that history happens three times: tragedy, farce, and just absolute pure comedy.

The funniest part is that it's been done before

By every measure, President Wilson's interventions in Russia failed.[6] The Eastern Front had not been reestablished, the war supplies stockpiled in Russian ports had not been saved, and no popular, progressive, non-Communist government had been established. The Japanese continued to meddle in Siberian affairs for another two years in a futile effort to carve out a puppet state. Even the successful extrication of the Czech Legion had little to do with Graves' small expedition. In the words of Chief of Staff Peyton C. March, the expeditions in Russia had been little more than “a military crime”.[4]

I'm convinced the first Battletech army is going to come spilling out of Mongolia soon or later.

Mongolian people are famous for their hospitality. Also for the several times they fucked the everloving dogshit out of anything that stood in their way. Don't fuck with people that would rather welcome you than harm you. They're trying to do your ass a favor.

I'm being a bit hyperbolic/jocular but I would not fuck with the Mongols.

        Battletech army

I'm thinking an entire army mounted on motorcycles. ATGM squadrons riding around faster than the tank turrets can rotate, bringing RPGs to bear against side and rear armor. Supported by guys in sidecars with Iglas, moving too fast to be accurately bombed and firing heat seekers at any plane or helicopter that tries. A hundred bikes with attached mortars riding in a Cantabrian circle shooting 40mm shells at a town full of infantry.

I don't think Orks actually use Motorcycles. That's more of a White Scars (the explicitly Mongolia-based Space Marine faction) thing.

If an India vs Pakistan nuclear exchange happens the jungles of the subcontinent will die. Then the forest fires will rage. It is theorized that this would be enough to trigger a global climate crisis, blotting out the sun, leading crop failures and more plants dying leading to, you guessed it, more fires.

And we could call that a limited exchange.

Reddit is full of so many imbeciles.

"Hi China, so umm, we are going to invade Russia from Mongolia. As anyone in the right state of mind would know it's gonna be a logistical nightmare. So we suppose we have to ask: can we borrow your Tianjin port and your railroad system, so we can transport stuff into Mongolia? Also don't shoot when our convoys fly over your sovereign territory. xoxo"

(Re: Tianjin port, I think Mongolia exports most of its not-China-destined coals and resources through that, which is why as much as they pretend to look for a "third neighboring nation" they can't really afford to irk China too much)
