Like, yeah I get that he died, but the fucker made his fortune exploiting mentally vulnerable lower-class people like a freak show. He was not a good person. His popularity caused the rise of entertainment that targeted real desperate poverty-stricken people and led to exploitative shows like Judge Judy, Dr Phil, and more. All shows that prey on less fortunate people. Those who can't afford Lawers or mental healthcare and are so desperate that they would risk being humiliated on international television.

Anyway RIP BOZO I'M GLAD YOU'RE DEAD. You were a pathetic vulture that ruined lives and spread classism and prejudice for an entire generation. Your only legacy was hate and the world would have been better off without you. Roast in hell.

I have a relative that watches Judge Judy daily and I can't for the life of me understand what entertainment value you're getting unless you like watching someone shout at the poor.

I have a sibling that loves that show and yes, it's entirely to get mad at 'rednecks'.

It's a modern day 'Get a load of this freak' shit

It's all about The People's Court for trashy courtroom TV. Just really really small claims court. You get to watch people argue before an arbitrator over likes $50 sometimes.

People get paid to be on that show. She pays the claim out of the sheo budget so it is a good deal for everyone

i know a trailer park love triangle that was on that show and they told everybody that they were on the show they were very proud of it

i dont know if he exploited them so much as they were very much the kind of people who seek attention and fed off it

no i will not name the episode and yes im 100% serious

'Attention seeking' is something I've seen so many times used to excuse the mistreatment of people who are are going through a mental crisis and are lashing out as a cry for help.

but also some people just thrive in chaos and attention

like who knows those particular people better? me, who has eaten at their trailer and gotten into drunken arguments with them and had their cousin discharge a firearm at me or you, a random on the internet who never met them?

Yeah; I had a coworker who had been on the show with her two (non-polycule) boyfriends in a similar white trash love triangle story. The production staff encouraged them to play up the hysterics and violence; same with the audience.

Actually Jerry was just following the model established by Phil Donahue and turned into a freak show by Morton Downey Jr. All Jerry did was turn it up to 11 for the post-grunge edgelord world.

He was quite practiced in the Clinton-style triangulation and other lib shit. He used it to do a lot of human zoo type shit, and other very exploitative stuff while acting like he was doing some white savior shit. The only novelty was showing America its own underbelly so up close and out in the open on day time tv.

I hate that fucking asshole. The entire show was getting the poors to humiliate themselves on national television.

Gestures wildly toward the entire modern TLC catalogue and WB Discovery CEO David Zaslav.

I mean, I don't know everyone who went on the show, but some dudes I knew in a band called the Locust were on it and it was all completely a bit.

Not an American so IDK much about Springer but seems like he's just another asshole "entertainer" who punched down "trashy" people.

Also apparently one of the first episodes involves a trans woman being jeered and booed for being trans in live TV? Like genuinely he should just rest in piss.
