    The fact that Google pushes LLM hallucinations to the top of results shows not only Google's hostility towards the open web, but also how little they believe in their core product.

    Now random bot spam ranks higher than their knowledge graph results (which are quite good and the only thing I miss with other search engines) and the results surfaced by their own ranking algos.

    If they were smart about using LLMs, they'd have added UI to "summarize this result" or allow you to ask questions about a result, but instead they just let an LLM repackage reddit shitposts without a clear way of verifying why the top result says what it does.

      search isnt their core product tho, lol. it's ads. it's always been ads. and i assume generous "donations" from the NSA.

    when your main business model is directing people to sites that show them ads delivered through your services but there's a new buzzword so you scrap all of that in favor of an unknowable black box that tells people to kill themselves so you put your best people on the problem so that you can continue losing ad views without controversy big-cool
