Chomsky's meetings with Epstein took place long after the disgraced financier had registered as a sex offender, the Journal reported.

The Wall Street Journal, in an exclusive published Sunday, said it had obtained Epstein's private calendar, which outlined numerous meetings with high-profile people, including Chomsky, the famed academic and political activist. When the Journal reached out to Chomsky for comment, the linguist had some choice words.

"First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone's. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally," Chomsky, 94, told the Journal in an email.

The most trustworthy thing you can ever do when confronted with a documented connection to a convicted sex trafficker, is to first get mad that you're even getting asked about this, secondly insist that even if you did have a connection, it doesnt matter at all.

This has always worked and there is no reason to think people will get more suspicious of you for refusing to divulge any details.

Or just say how you didn't know about it and how terrible it must be for the victims and ask for forgiveness for your lack of judgement etc.

        It's not hard!

I did it for him, by asking GPT to roleplay as a famous academic activist, while I play the journalist:

Journalist: Why were you in a flight to Jeffrey Epstein's private island?

Famous Academic: I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you must have mistaken me for someone else. I have never been to Jeffrey Epstein's private island, nor have I had any involvement with him or his activities. As a public figure, I understand that my name and reputation may sometimes be linked to false or misleading information, but I can assure you that any allegations or insinuations of my involvement with Mr. Epstein are completely unfounded and untrue.

Journalist: We obtained records from Epstein's private journal mentioning you by name. What do you say to that?

Famous Academic: I understand that as a journalist, you have an obligation to follow leads and pursue information that is in the public interest. However, I must reiterate that any mention of my name in connection to Jeffrey Epstein is completely false and baseless. I have no knowledge of or involvement in Mr. Epstein's activities, and any claims to the contrary are simply untrue. It's unfortunate that my name has been dragged into this scandal, but I stand by the truth and will continue to focus on my work as an academic and activist in service of creating a more just and equitable world.
