Meanwhile, a crowdfunding campaign set up to support Neely’s family has raised just $123,000.

I don't think racism is the correct tack to take here honestly. He may or may not be racist I have no idea, but liberals and CHUDs aren't united in hatred of black people, they're united in their hatred of poor people. This is a war being fought in cities with little to no race difference between the rich and the homeless, they're homicidal all the same.

IDK believe what you want honestly, but I think if you're in discussion with people and chalk it up to race you might be dismissed as not being "serious" - it's harder to argue that liberals and CHUDs aren't constitutionally opposed to giving poor and homeless populations opportunity to live a dignified life.

I think racial undertones are always a factor. And I have no doubt this story would be playing different with a white victim instead.

However you've hit the issue squarely. This isn't a (public) case of a black person being murdered. It's the case of an untouchable being removed. Liberals are fine with it.

Just like they're fine with the zone being removed in Phoenix. And they're fine with making homelessness a crime. All the while being a couple paychecks away. I speak for myself here. I make more money than my parents ever have. And in this moment now I'm the closest I've ever been to homelessness.

It's still very racialized for the time being. Had Neely been white, I'm assuming a very similar reaction would be witnessed but there would not be so many publicly defending the killer.

This shit would absolutely not happen if their race were reversed. The NYPD would've 100% hunt down the murderer for sport and blew his brains out. I would even bet the passengers wouldn't have passively stood by but instead prevent the murder from taking place. I've seen enough videos and Tiktoks where some white dipshit is verbally and physically harassing some POC while everyone else around them don't do shit, but as soon as the POC starts standing up for themselves and throwing hands, suddenly, everyone wants to larp as a boxing referee. It's not just people hating the poor and homeless but people hating Black people as well, and if you're homeless and Black, well, some mayo can look forward to $2M for killing you.

The issue plainly is not just the city itself and the views of the people there, but how the media outside the city is reporting on it and how people outside the city are reacting to it.
