I totally forgot that the random muggers in my city had a bunch of helicopters, a handful of armored vehicles, and a special rapid response team.
at first cops just had billy clubs, but then people put nails in their clubs, and bigger clubs and bigger nails, and soon there will be a club with a nail in it so big it destroys. us. all
how do we not have some kind of kodos/kang emoji, like at least a "i voted fo rkodos" type thing
Neera how do you respond to reports that every police department in the USA hates your posting and thinks you smell bad?
They were laughing as they cashed the paychecks, making fun of your smile and were using the money to spend on Bernie's 2024 run
It's impossible to keep people safe in a system where police are
outgunned bymurderers.(Which is one of the reasons why people will never be safe under capitalism.)
the police could definitely be less murderous within capitalism. Early capitalist Britain didn't even have a police force
Oh yeah, there are police in capitalist countries now that are measurably far less murderous than the racist, rabid militarized cops of the US. But it's a spectrum. The tool of the bourgeoisie whose purpose is to protect private property with open violence legitimized by the state will always at least have elements that are ready, even happy to fulfill that role by killing people. Especially as contradictions intensify.
I hear what you mean though, and I probably should have just left that second sentence off in my last comment.
Pig fact of the day:
Pigs are ~30x more likely to murder someone than your average civilian. In the US, human beings outnumber pigs ~500 to 1, and yet pigs make up 1 in 16 murders :Hoggers:
Bonus fact: pigs injure 250,000 people every year
:jesus-christ: If you have a source or two to link for that, I would love using it to radicalize the many libs in my life
I calculated it myself actually, so there's a few sources
16.4k murders in the US in 2019
1.1k murders done by cops, which is almost 7% of the prior number (~1 in 16)
660,000 cops in the US, making up <0.2% of the population (1 in 500)
And for the injuries: https://policeepi.uic.edu/u-s-data-on-police-shootings-and-violence/
Neera - does your plan increase the number of police guns by 10 times? 20 times? More?
Also - what's President Biden like in person?
:pigmask-parodied: :gui: :sicko-speeeeen:
Rollin' heads - :kelly:
if more police decreased crime, the united states would be the most crime free society in human history you stupid fuck
